From simple debugging turns into total makeover

From a simple editing and make over that were intended to be done on the INPAT script
Pretty much become a major upgrade in the need...First off
Implimenting the ComboBox on where is needed
And after poking around checking on the index and stored data
Few changes were done to destroy the error that inhibits the program
And after few poking2 here and there, ComboBox usage were linked with the process part
Ooo ya in the program development, basicly there are 3 layers or stages before we get the output from the tools
Lemme explain a bit here
The first part of the our tool is the
Tracing part - Basicly this part is just getting data read data thats all

2nd layer of the program is processing
Process - the procedure of getting the data and processing it, basicly what TCL is famous for is that it can work hand in hand together with C++ based program, Java Perl and much2 more, but basicly INPAT use AWK as its main processer, the data can be processed using TCL, but TCL is used to link other program so that software that are already created can be linked and used together compiling them into a huge pile of multi purpose tool...So that you dont need to make your own software everytime you want to do research on something...Its all about sending and catching, but the tool that i created before this were pretty much 100% TCL, INPAT is part TCL part AWK

3rd layer is the presentation part
Presentation - This part is well about showing what did u get, in chart form in table form, in any form that is needed, and since again, TCL can co op with other programs, even Microsoft Excel !!! you can pretty much either make your own visual since TCL can do that, or use other programs that you love to use to present your results

Getting back to our debugging story, after a few script reading and altering to make the tool@program to be more user friendly, we did manage to detect some uncertainty within the tools...

But basicly we encountered a lot of problems just within one day of total programs check up, from 11am i think until 5.30PM...One major problem that we faced is that, i am a newbie programmer, En Zul is the Software Engineer@Programmer also, what we lack is the Researcher that can give us all the required equation to solve the important details...Since the knowledge in Malaysia is fairly low on the subject, its pretty much lags the software development

Why???because we encountered problems with the AWK script...which is not good...since trying to find the "division by zero" error might takes days to truely knows what is wrong, and we need to publish the software for beta testing sometime in june...

Tomorrow will continue on the debugging to find more error...Today i was pretty much worked@programmed to the bones...But the hectic is fun!!!Its a crazy thing if u ask me about programming...Programming is crazy fun!!!I think i've finally found what I love to do...Im still pretty much no so hebat and i still cant hafal all the scripts arguments and condition...TCL have a lot of them...But i really2 love doing it...Cheers (>__<)

INPAT Improvements

Today a bit of pair work...
Mr Zulkifli Ishak came up to the office to discuss on INPAT
Beta testing improvement debugging and some minor@major improvement
So a bit of discussion here and there, read through some of the paper
And 2006 paper which is really2 simple if i looked at it haha
I guess how far have we improved ourselves right
I looked at the paper and think to my self...
No its not a wonderful worlds...But
With my knowledge now in TCL, even i can produce that paper
Waaa, seriously im impressed (>__<) but not on my own la right
At least need another person to do the NS2 part ehehe
But basicly its a cool day today a bit rush here and there

Xandros Skill Improvement

Today a bit playing around using the Xandros
Learnt how to install software which is kinda easy and simple and such
Poke my nose around here and there
Bottom line is, Xandros is easy to use
Almost the same as using Ubuntu
But back before i have no guide and no reason to use ubuntu
Which flunked me in the ubuntu adventure
So i guess im taking my time to understand xandros
Kinda cool !!! Lols

INPAT Traffic Corrected And Done

Ok for the beta tool@software that was created by En Zul
I were already able to get the desired "Traffic" function
Basicly traffic are used to filter the different traffic
Mainly CBR, ACK and TCP, the Traffic function were implimented using ComboBox
I were able to insert scanned data into the display part of the ComboBox
Which i was not able to do so
Which was my Wireless Network Analysis Tool...WiNAT Haha thats a cool name...
The script is a simple configuration script, but the way the data inserted needed some trick so it can be successfully implimented
Overal everything is A O K (>__<)

INPAT Script Reading Again...

Again today still analysing the INPAT script
Done analysing the NS2 script and its trace output
Seems there are basicly 3 types of traffic within the output
CBR ACP and...The other one forgot already (>__<)

Other than that my skills in using Xandros a linux OS are pretty much getting better and better
But i guess its because Xandros are a bit easy to be used
And i think im pretty much very comfortable in using Xandors in doing my work
But it seems that Xandros only support PS2 mouse
USB based mouse are pretty much not welcomed...
So basicly i've been practicing using Xandros the whole day

Ok i've scanned and understand all the 10 pages of the INPAT script
Took awhile, not because i dont understand but because im lazy
Well looking at programming too much gives me headache
Anyways, i guess i can change something with the Traffic part i guess
But i guess thats all i can change, i cant change the part where the division of "Zero" occurred
Why???Because im not the one who invented the AWK NS2 and TCL Script
Yes there are 3 scripts in total, err...There are more than 1 script for the AWK part
But i just count it as one type, so there are 3 types of scripts that need to be looked
I've looked at AWK, well ive understand it on how the processing and such
So next part is maybe looking at AWK script to see why there are dividing of "Zero" occuring
It cant occur FYI, since there are no such thing as infinity delay or packet or jitter !!!

Time Moving Slowly

Ok basicly everything is a bit slow for me
Since its maybe my final task, which is improvement and debugging
But before a lot of improvement or debugging i need to do some script reading
NS2 Script is just 2 piece of paper
And INPAT TCL Script is 10pages long
I've finished looking through 8 pages
And ive done some minor changes along the way
No big changes need to be done yet, i need to understand the script truely
B4 i can do any big improvement
Maybe tomorrow i'll finished looking through the INPAT script
The script i cant put it up here since it is classified (>__<) lols
But it what i say it is, it is uniten made, and still under BETA
I still need to indulge myself in it in order to search for problems...
The AWK part of the script i dont really know, but maybe i also need to learn AWK script
C++ script learning was put on hold LOLS...but i dont have any problem dealing with C++
Since it is very much similar to Basic C, just a bit change here and there thats all
I guess im pretty much heading to be a software engineer from this internship huh
But well an electronics engineer are expected to have skill in C, C++, VB, and even JAVA...
But i dont think i can learn JAVA, VB maybe can i guess...
But we'll see, im just too damn lazy...

OK today got meeting, and again the same WSN squad got together
But today extra skit...A bit havoc but just very nice with some food oso kah3
Well anyways, intisari meeting mcm biase about budjet, and NSF and such things also
So basicly from the meeting a few things is settled, a few budget were made
Basicly instead of 2 license for OMNEST, we're only gonna buy 1
TCL Dev Kit 1 package of five
TCL Studio Kit 1 License
Total is about RM35000
Other than that trip to ICOCI09 conference for 5 people
Approximately about RM5000 i guess
Other than that upgrading the server with 2 new rams
Approximately budgeted at RM1000
And also gonna be doing some "petty cash" klau anda org uniten anda tau apa itu petty cash ngahahahhaa
Other than that tomorrow gonna discuss with En Zul on INPAT, there are too much error on the INPAT program, or maybe something just really suxx with my linux skills,other than that im learning to use linux, yeay!!!
So basicly the idea is to release a beta version of INPAT for research use
We're hoping to promote it to other universities and researchers that might be interested to use it...So all in all, lets do it!!!

Ok, today also a bit discussion with Mr Zulkifli Ishak
One of the team for INPAT (forgot ape maksud INPAT ni ngaaaa~~)
Basicly the program is all done, but with some errors
So i have to do search and destroy for errors (>__<) lols
Do some state changes, some combobox i guess should be a piece of cake all of that
State changes done already so pretty much no problem
The program are for wired i think packet sending thingy bla3 analyzer
Wired output are a bit easy to understand unlike wireless...
And maybe wireless will be my project to be done???
Well im not sure that one...But target this is all settled by June
Need to set up a website for Beta Tester, need to check up on autoresponder also...
Lotsa things to do, i guess...Slow n steady bebeh !!!

Into TCL

A little intro and article on TCL

Basicly TCL is the short form for Tool Command Language.
While TK i basicly is just GUI Toolkit, or you can just say widget.

TCL consist of 2 things, a scripting language and an interpreter for that language.
Unlike other scripts out there, TCL are basicly very easy to be learned, a programmer only needs to worry and focus more on the script function, and after that then assign the proper GUI Toolkit and such for the script.
Unlike C or C++ that i have learned earlier (C++ only a little) but basicly, programs created with C or C++ are run on command prompt, to have GUI the need to impliment visual basic, where in order to impliment visual basic you have to have a strong background in C++, but, in TCL creating GUI is really much a piece of cake,you can learn it within a day guaranteed, the only things that are needed are the GUI command or function. This is basicly what ive learnt within 2 - 3weeks, i've learnt C programming for one semester and still no GUI, ive learnt TCL on my own one weeks with the target to analyze the tracefile from NS2 outputs, and i already have a fast, reliable output analyzer, though its functions are still lacks due to lack of information of NS2 side, TCl proves its capability here, where it is much much faster than traditional NS2 output analyzer.

Ok so kinda slow with the internship thingy
So i guess i got to start set my own goal
Coz motes pon blom beli and i dont know if i get to see and play with it
But anyways, learning how the format of NS2 output work
That part is well im starting to try and learn it
That is not what im supposed to do actually
Im supposed to play with OMNEST, but i guess i like TCL much more
So I think I want to make something like 2 famous software out there
JTrana and Tracegraph
One is using Java and the other one is using matlab
But both sucks at speed...
But both are powerful...
But i really2 want to make something as powerful as both of them
The 2 software are not comman in Malaysia, to engineer i guess not lecturer...

Hmm so like after a few hour i was able to insert a timer to time how long is needed to make the graph and some stuff
And it look so bad, why? Well firstly because the paper we were interested in doing yesterday was on to monitor how long for it to process the graph using different sampling time, 1 second 2 3 and so on...
Tried the obvious sampilng time 1 10 and 100 second
The result is...Each one of them uses some 34second ++
It gave a conclusion to me that, eventhough the sampling time is different
The program still needs to process all the points
Which kinda screw with our paper interest
And next want to compare JTrana with the TCL Program
That one cannot be done, why???
Because all the graph in JTrana are all in a complete set
So again stuck there, so maybe no paper for ICOCI09 i guess haiya

One more thing, is a 30second running program are much slower than 1 day of processing program???Ini la jadinya bile "pandai sgt people" amik "mustard" better guna 1 day punye processing program sbb 30 saat punye program slow sgt...Sejak bile 1 hari tu lagi cepat dari 30 saat???Da nk kiamat kew hua3...Anyways lets just continue with aaaa...Dunno what to do now, waiting for quotation from Basecore...

Looking around the internet only
U can say that a lil bit of holiday from TCL hehe
Anyways, just got the memo to prepare a small presentation
The presentation is on just a few review and such on OMNEST
The software that i was assigned to learn earlier
Learning was kind of slow since the community of the forum arent that big
Though OMNEST are already a big hit on big company
Likes CISCO, Alcatel, Intel also are using it
Though i know they are probably using the 1million ringgit ++ software OPNET (>__<)
UNITEN still xmampu untuk beli this one LOLS haha
And OMNEST pun maybe just buy 1 year license cause the price for 1 year license is already 4K Euro while buying it will blow your pocket with 14K Euro LOL!!!
If u dont know the pricing of 4K and 14K well
4K is equal to RM19K and 14K is equal to RM67K++ and that doesnt include third party payment and tax from kastam bebeh !!!

Ok, ngan mencurik script org and memanipulate script mereka, hasilnya adalah ini, da dpt sumbat graf dlm satu window lain, so xde ar gemok sgt my program...Lama gak nk pahamkan, thought want to integrate the zoom function, but that part is too advanced, example at the web all are very lengthy, meaning there is no room for script stealing, and they all are using some weird advanced script...Damn...

Ok yesterday problem solved it 10AM ago, but tetiba ade seminar kecik form Mr Arno Pettai from Anritsu on their newest vector network analyzer and their Signal analyzer, its mainly for communication stuff or group Dr Tiong actually on their antenna for RF and stuff and bla3, which i was kinda lost a minute there when he presented,because mainly i dont understand a lot of the term he was explaining, but i cant ask more, because Dr Tiong is a buzy man and he's the person who wants to know on the product since it is related with his project, but majorly what i understand is that, the Vector Network Analyzer in referring to Dr Tiong's project. mainly it can help their antenna in ways like looking at the received frequency and the transmission of it, how the radiotion is, and there a lot of graph that i dont understand, except for the frequency graph.

HERE's the VNA that they brought today, but i think this one is the old version, because he told us that the VNA he grought today is the newest one, and documentation are'nt even updated yet...

The other product was a signal analyzer or generator i guess, cause he said it can produce different type of signal, 3G, WiMAX, EDGE and so on, and has an extra function which is producing custom signal that are scripted using matlab script code. Which i also dont understand FYI, not because im ignorant to ask or anything, but it seems that Dr Tiongs group really has no time to waste and that product is important to them, not sure if they are really going to buy it though...

OK next task is to only take first input after every second, well sound easy cause it is, but what is not easy and frustrating is that, because it die only take the value of its own group, but the problem is, it increment itslef by the value of 10, but what is so weird is that the last value is not an increment of 10...which is really3 suxx...why somehow it is 10 and the it is one again...damn man...

Ok i thought I want to drop using the spinbox, but im getting nightmare's not trying to do it haha lol, so anyways, found the solution, instead of using spinbox, i used ComboBox, and few hours later a little script here a little script there, wallah !!! My combobox are now integrated with the searchbar, and i guess this week target is complete, except for TCL + C i guess, and list, but list im not sure if using list is "efficient". But anyway, looking back at my first prouct and compared to this week product, so so much different haha, also ive integrated the "Save" function to save only the stuff that is wanted...Toodles...

Added a few line of script and wallah, we get the no of line for the number of nodes, before this I said a safe assumption for the number of nodes is 20K correct...i guess i was totally wrong huh, coz one nodes has minimum of 740K data...total them up, erm plus minus 4.8 million number of points !!! cool !!!

This picture are a picture of energy usave versus time for Node 0, with 5 jumps, which took more than 10minutes to be produced

This picture are the same Node 0, but with 10 jumps, in conclusion, 10 jumps are acceptible to me for small image canvas, and it is much faster to be produced. which was less than 10 minutes, around +- 5minutes.

The search bar also has been edited to be more precise on what to be shown

Update : Able to save the image in vector format, which is good cause i can produce really large size of image by using the format, below is the image of Node 1 graph in 2000X2000 ++ pixel with 10 jumps

Tired of waiting

Its 5pm already and still there are no graph, so in order to reduce the time use to produce the graph, i've inroduced some jumps so that the process will be alot faster, below is a the picture where i jump skipping the program from plotting 100 points after each point, while waiting for my no skip@jump graph plotted im also waiting for my 10 skip@jump graph

been waiting from 11.15 am in the morning till now its 2.01pm for my graph to show up, but still in despair, the source code for my graph maker are correct, but it doesnt seems to be efficient in handling more than 5000points...5000 points are just my rough extimation, it should be a lot more than that, because the graph starts from 0 seconds to 5000 seconds, and the point are not at 0 or 1 or 2 seconds, the output are usually taken at like maybe 0.00048 seconds and maybe the next point will be at 0.00061 second, so for sure, it should be more than 5000points, a safe estimation should be 20k points, but still i doubt the points are that little, should be more...Well i guess lets just wait.

Findings & Another Achievement

Ok i was given 4 task, use "LIST" "MAKE A SEARCH BAR" "USE SPINBOX" "MAKE GRAPH". Out of 4 i have accomplised one of them, which is "LIST". But unfortunately, there are pros and cons on the usage of LIST and the old way of reading stuff directly.

Pros of using list
-No need to refer to old file, because file are stored in a list
-Doesnt eat your ram too much
-Good for small number of files

Cons of it is
-Lag so much that i cant display the content of the list
-Bad for big files

This is only from my observation, using list saves a lot of ram space, but it doesnt get the job done, using the old method of reading from the given target input, it lags a bit but it can display the input, filter the input, and save the input in a text file automaticly in about one minutes.But it eats about 1.6gig of your ram, which is bad for old computers. So i guess that concludes which one is better, unless my structure is all wrong which i dont think so, but who knows right. I'll triple check it again maybe.

Making a search bar this one its not impossible, but i need to get some idea on it first i guess, spinbox this one and making a graph both of this are giving me headache...But the challange is fun i guess. Thats all for today i guess. Need to bayar my telephone and internet bils. At home internet are the only thing that keeps me entertained u know, coz im single and im all alone at home...And that sucks hard for me.

Update :
I were able to do the search bar, where it can filter depending on the input that we wanted

Update : This program uses 300MB of ram which is better than the program that i did before. The wonders that it can do just by changing button into search bar. 300MB is small because i dont think u can even view the content of file using anything, not even notepad, i think notepad can open it, but for sure it'll take a lot of time and the bad part of it, notepad cant filter the input !!!

Finally Can Filter The Different Nodes

Ok finally i was able to finish the task given which is filter files+filter the different nodes, the program are able to show the filtered files for the different nodes 0 - 5, five nodes in total, and filter its time and energy so that it can pe processed for other things. Though the source codes are a bit long so i guess i need to do some simplifying the source codes, and the program used an average of 1.5gig of ram...Not much of a shock for me cause, we are filtering a huge output file, 300MB++ in size.

Eureka !!! A Notepad

Haha, i have created my own multipurpose notepad
It can read any type of file, and if using the tracefile as an input we can filter the N files and the different nodes.

But just now i accidently use the wrong structure(wrong structure means it is correct but it is not efficient) the program chunk 1.7Gig of ram and keep on increasing!!! WoW !!! This means my program has turned into ar PC stressing program !!!

Again progress is slow (>__<)

OMNet++ / OMNest

Ok i was given the task of researching for this software, OMNest is the commercial version of OMNet++, the main usage of the software are to simulate anything that you want to simulate, mainly on networking stuff, ping, HTTP4 HTTP5 and so on, viewing the data and packet that is sent from a point to another point and so on. But since there are no user guide for beginner its been a hard task to try and simulate the tutorial that it gives, which is a problem cause there are also no textbook that are based on OMNest, and somehow me myself have given to try OMNest as low priority because there are no exact tutorial for it. The price for the software is around RM70K. Unless want to use a 1 year license which cost Euro 4K

Ok update for my log book today is whats up there
Yesterday with succes i was able to produce the source code to read any file like a notepad, but without the lag that notepad give you, since the output file to be read are larger than 300MB

My 1st achievement

Though still far2 away from the real stuff but this is an achievement for me.
it is step by step my friends, cause it is hard to understand TCL, it has a lof of command and condition. but little by little i am able to absorb TCL.

Simple as it sound, but simple it is, only happens in CPROG
In TCL N TK its a whole different story i guess
Anyways 1st assignment is trace text file n display it
Need to look for tutorials and the big book by Brent B. Welch
Anyways, target for this assignment by this week to be settled.
